About

“Wendy Little was superb, so fast, clever, funny, understandable, relevant and contemporarily wicked.” The Age

Wendy Little is writer, actor and composer from Melbourne. Throughout her career, she has blended comedy, music and social commentary, most notably as a founding member of the acclaimed musical comedy trio, The Sheryls.

The Sheryls were regulars on the live comedy circuit in Melbourne and created eight one hour shows for seasons at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF), Melbourne, Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe festivals. With co-members Cathy Dowling and Irene Parker collaborating on composition and creative material, the trio dazzled audiences at major festivals from 1998-2003 and released their album “Maiden Australia“.

Beyond The Sheryls, Wendy has written and performed solo shows at MICF, Kill Bob Vol.13 (2004), Limited Sedition (2006) and as a cast member and writer for Parental as Anything (2007), The Middle Ages (2009) and The Uncanny X-Gen (2010). At the Melbourne Fringe Festival, she wrote and performed Blue Velour (2000), Full Metal Yashmak (2001) and Helmet Hair (2007).

In 1992 Wendy founded the Ken Oath Theatre company to produce original comedies, including the smash hits The Sammy-Jo Cyrus Show (MICF 1994) and Medea Does Dallas (MICF 1997), which ran for three successful seasons across Le Joke, The Athenaeum, and The Universal Theatre.

Wendy has performed her own material on ABC TV, Network TEN, The Comedy Channel, Channel 31, ABC 774, Triple J, 3RRR, 3PBS, 3AK. She co-created one of the first Australian comedy podcasts The Powder Room with RAW comedy winner Em O’Loughlin and weekly Southern FM radio show The Chardy Ladies .

A jill of all trades, comedian, speaker, actor, writer and composer. Wendy’s penchant for funny songs, most likely stems from her parents. They performed in Gilbert and Sullivan productions and left six-month old Wendy backstage in a wicker bassinet. She was either destined to be a musical comic or the very model of a modern major general.

“Wendy Little connects with her audience well, largely through likeability rather than any particular technique. She uses all the comedic devices at her disposal, traversing song, film and sketch. Yet she doesn’t dwell on any of them long enough to get bogged down. This could be because Little believes in a fast-moving show… The  goodwill Little generates from her audience may mean they don’t care what the reason is.” Chas Licciardello, The Chaser

Wendy Little writes comedy, performs on stage and screen, appears in television commercials, and plays with The Sheryls, an all-woman comedy band.
